WE
MAY MAKE OUR PLANS, BUT, GOD HAS THE LAST WORD. Many of us have made plans for
our lives. We have hopes and dreams for us and for our children. We look with
excitement and anticipation to our future. Yet, just when we find ourselves
comfortably traveling along lifes journey, things change. We learn our
child has a disability. Perhaps, he has a hearing impairment, a learning
difficulty, autism or a genetic disorder. It seems that our hopes, dreams, and
plans are crushed. In truth, they are being reshaped and reformed. How about
you? Are you finding your dreams challenged or changed because of a
childs disability? As your daily life is being turned upside down, is
your spiritual life changing also? If so, you are not alone. A group of fellow
parishioners has formed a SPECIAL NEEDS PRAYER GROUP. We are parents of
children with various special needs or disabilities. Once a month, we gather to
reflect on how Scripture is present and active in our lives. It is a time of
spiritual renewal for each of us. We invite anyone who has been touched by a
special needs child to join us. Starting in January, we will use the
Living Faith Booklet for reflection and sharing. |
