Congratulations to Craig Lueddecke, Troop 918s newest Eagle
Scout. Craig earned his Eagle on July 18th. Congrats to proud parents Jack and
Joanne. Can younger brother Scott follow
in his brothers footsteps? Craig is the
7th Eagle Scout in our troop this year in 7 months. Awesome.
Welcome Taylor Wilson.
Taylor has transferred from another troop. He is joining the Perforated Puffins
patrol. Michael Wilson (Taylors dad)
has helped our troop with the rappelling at S-F.
Mornings were spent hiking.
Afternoons were spent in the Tennessee River. The weather was cool (at 4 AM). The rest of the time it was HOT. We all made the long and hot 12 mile
hike. No quitters in this troop. We ate like kings. A big thanks to Jack Lueddecke for planning
an awesome trip.
The
game was great. The Cardinals lost, but
we saw Pujols hit a homer. We had over
40 people with our group and we all got in for free. Thanks to Charles Lanza for coordinating this
event.
August 13th 9 AM to 3 PM at Beaumont. A good place to finish those partials from
summer camp.
Monday, Sept. 5th.
Scouts in uniform get in free with one paying adult. Visit www.stlcofair.org for more
information.
We have quite a few scouts in the troop who are in need of a
Scoutmaster approved project instead of
a leadership position for rank advancement.
The troop is planning a Saturday (August 20th) for setting up
all tents (new and old) and taking inventory of repairs. All unusable tents will be pitched. Much of the tent equipment has been scrambled
and tents are now missing poles or pegs.
We will attempt to put things back in order. This will save us all money in the long run
because we do not want to buy new tents every 2 years. Scouts will be fed lunch during this project
and they can bring swimsuits for some cool-down fun. All scouts in the troop are invited to
help. This project will occur at Brett
Borgstedes house at 8 AM. Further
details will be sent in Email.
The Canoeing Campout will be August 26th, 27th and
28th. We have about 27 kids
and 17 adults signed up. It might not be
too late to sign up. Contact Brett if
you are interested. We will figure out the
food soon and let everyone know the camping/food cost. This should be a fun and relaxing weekend.
The Order of the Arrow Fall Reunion is at S-F Ranch on Sept.
9th 11th. We
have 11 scouts and one adult to go through Ordeal that weekend. It would be great if the rest of our Order of
the Arrow brothers came out and camped with us that weekend. Contact Brett if you want to go.
The fundraiser is on.
We have one game under our belt and the Cardinals are asking us to take
on additional games. See Luann Sniezak
for details.
The Order of the Arrow Section Conclave will be at Beaumont
on Sept. 23rd 25th.
All Brothers should be getting information in the mail. The scouts going through Ordeal at the Fall
Reunion can attend. This is a great
campout. No work, no cooking, no
cleaning. Just a relaxing time to enjoy
camping with other Brothers from all over Missouri and Illinois. Lets all go.

Lisa Braden (Kyles mom) has joined the committee. She volunteered to be the Outdoor Chairman.
Luann Sniezak has volunteered to be our Membership Chairman.
Our Chartered Organization Representative, Greg Gross, has
volunteered to be our Training Chairman.
A big thanks goes to all three.
The troop committee discussed scout accounts falling into the
negative. It was decided to develop a
standard letter that can be mailed to the parents when an account goes into the
negative by more than $40. This is being
done as a courtesy, so that families do not fall into the hole too much without
realizing it. The troop committee will
not send evil henchmen out to collect.
The troop committee would like to remind parents that they
should avoid signing rank requirements in their sons handbooks. The handbooks should mainly be signed by the
youth and adult leaders.
Our July committee meeting had 12 people. What a great troop. The next committee meeting is Tuesday, August
16th at Bretts house at 7 PM.
This meeting will be our yearly planning meeting. We will develop the event calendar for the
entire scout year.
