Advisory Board

The purpose of the Board is to advise the pastor and principal in determining policies and programs for the school. The Board is comprised of the pastor, principal, assistant principal and seven to nine parish members. Meetings are held monthly. The Administration and the School Advisory Board are always open to suggestions about school policies. Suggestions are discussed at board meetings and a Board member makes a follow-up response.

Educational Philosophy

We believe that all children are unique individuals created by God to whom they are responsible for the conduct of their lives to whom they must give an account of their stewardship.

Vatican II in the Declaration on Christian Education states: "Since every man of whatever race, condition, and age is endowed with the dignity of a person, he/she has an inalienable right to an education corresponding to his/her proper destiny and suited to his/her native talents, his/her sex, his/her culture background, and his/her ancestral heritage." Each child, then, has this basic right to an education which fosters healthy spiritual, intellectual, psychological, social and physical development. We believe that the educational process is founded on the parent-school-parish partnership. Parents are their children's primary teachers and role models. The school formally assists parents in their educational mission, and the parish is the Catholic community which supports and nurtures this process.

The St. Joseph community strives to provide a school environment in which the gospel message in word and action is emphasized, to live and build community, to offer a curriculum of catechetical instruction in the Catholic faith, to provide opportunities for active participation in liturgy, and to foster an attitude of personal responsibility and of service to others. In effectively implemented, we believe these will lead to personal sanctification and will serve as a basis for building God's kingdom on earth. We are not satisfied that students merely acquire facts but strive to train students to think, to reason and to judge according to Catholic principles, thus inculcating sound moral habits and a Catholic values system on which base their decisions.

Education is part of life as well as a preparation for a fuller living of it. With the educational program, we strive to recognize the uniqueness of each student and the special gifts that each possess
