7th and 8th Grade Girls Attend the Girl Genius Retreat
Wednesday, January 04, 2012
The 7th and 8th grade girls attended a day-long Girl
Genius retreat at school in December. This retreat was
presented by Brigid DeMoor, a member of Endow (Educating on the
Nature and Dignity of Women), and explained to the girls the truth
of the Catholic faith about their God-given dignity and mission as
young girls. At the same time this retreat helped to
de-construct lies that our society has bombarded them with in the
media. The girls came away from the retreat with the
following insights:
"My thoughts about myself and about other
people have changed since the retreat...I will now try not to
think about or judge people because of their appearances, but look
deeper inside them and see what things God has put in their
lives."
"...it really made me think about my prayer life and how
weak it was...Will I even recognize Jesus? I am going to pray
for as many people as I can before I die."
"We discussed how to treat people. Since then I
have tried to be more friendly to everyone including people I don't
usually talk to...I'm really glad I got the opportunity to
experience the Endow retreat."
"I know now that I only need to be beautiful through
God's eyes. That's all that's important."
