We Learn

I want all Catholic schools to demonstrate a vibrant,
hope-filled spirit that proclaims to the whole world that Christ is alive and active
in our homes, in our parishes and school communities and in our
world. (Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, January 2010)
Parents assume a profound obligation as their children's first
teachers. Catholic education helps fulfill this commitment by
communicating knowledge in the context of the Christian vision of
the world, of life, of culture and of history.
St. Joseph School
offers a marvelous gift to families. There is no separation between
time for learning and time for formation, between acquiring ideas
and growing in wisdom. The school subjects do not only present
knowledge to be attained but also values to be acquired and truths
to be discovered (John Paul II, Springtime of
Evangelization, 82).
When the child is baptized the parents are asked the
question:
You have asked to have your child baptized. In doing so you
are accepting the responsibility of training him or her in the
practice of the faith ... Do you clearly understand what you are
undertaking?
